One for the dogs: Recycled towel blanket

When we take the dogs to the kennel, we send them with towels to lay on, and they come back in shreds (the towels, not the dogs.)  I had maybe seven towels that were useless, and I’m tired of using good towels on those monsters.

(The monsters…)

This is another recycling project.  First I washed the towels and tried to trim off the matted, chewed threads.  Ew, they always smell like rancid dog when they come back in the kennel bag.

Oh, the savagery!

Then I flattened them out and cut all the useful bits out.  This took about an hour.

And i had help!  Darwin kindly acted as a base on which to drape the blocks.  This lasted far longer than I would have thought :D.

I used an old tablecloth as a base and pieced together the blocks on top.  I tried not to overlap too much because my machine can’t handle lots of layers.

And it took about 2 hours to sew everything together.  I used a zigzag stitch to make it nice and strong, so maybe Toby won’t rip this into little bits.

Yay!  Im going to make two, and I will have plenty of scrap left for repairs.  And there you have it.

What a great idea. Using 4 towels to make 2! I am sure that the two will soon become one and then one will make 1/2, ad infinitum…..not much going on on our end… least as of 4 pm…..and I’m glad! Songs tomorrow and on Sun. so the weekend will fill up…..Take care. Phant…..

You might not be far wrong there! Just think of me when you’re in your workshop cutting up perfectly good pieces of wood to make smaller pieces. Blessing with song practice– seems you’re the go-to guy now!
